Dominic Avant creates paintings of subjects he is personally drawn to and feels compelled to paint. This way he stays true to his ideals and is driven by his passion. His final goal is to capture the essence and the true beauty of the subject rather than a photographic rendering.

He believes nature is our greatest teacher, revealing to us what a photo cannot. He describes his style as a fusion of Plein Air, Impressionism and Realism.

He works mostly from life and primarily with oils. Most of his work consists of local Florida landscapes as well as scenes from his travels out west. He sees his paintings as an invitation to the viewer to take part in the celebration of God's creations.
